Mistakes to avoid for Bathroom Design

Hello Bathroom Community, we hope you are doing well and taking good care of your wash room, or building a new one, or designing one. Today, we are going to talk about a few mistakes you should avoid when going through the design process. These are simple, yet often forgotten, tips and tricks that must always be taken into account, therefore saving money and time.

Spending too much

We see this all too often, the budget is set and you are ready to start your project, but things sometimes go to plan. The first thing you might forget to consider is the cost of labor on top of the quotes certain contractors may give you. Remember to ask for detailed quotes and get different ones from different people.

Always add a percentage to the quote you have chosen - let's say the budget is £10,000 and you have found a contractor that has quoted £8,000 for all the materials, labor, etc… Add on an extra 15-20% to make sure you don't overspend, you might run into some unexpected situations and find yourself with no money left to complete the project if you don't add this small percentage on.

Size matters

Don't always think the bigger you go, the better it will be. Ergonomics and functionality are key factors when it comes to a perfect bathroom. Style is still important, but it should be a secondary priority. As we like to say: "It's no good having a massive luxury-type shower if it doesn't work properly".

Storage space

As we have mentioned in other posts beforehand, the storage space in your bathroom is very important. This is the only way you will keep the room tidy and overall, make it last longer. We would thereby recommend including at least a couple of storage units when having your bathroom fitted. This could be anything from storage under the sink, behind the mirror, attached to a wall or casually snuck in a corner of the room.
