In this day and age, designing a bathroom is not as simple as it used to be. There is a lot to take think about, and rightly so. Your bathroom is a vital part of your home, not only because of how often it is used, but also because it should have the right balance between relaxation and ergonomy. So from the look of your bathroom, to the comfortability and functionality, all must be accounted for.

First off: The Layout

Starting with the position of the toilet, thanks to the soil pipe. Moving on to the bath and/or shower, sink(s) and towel rails. All of this should be determined by asking yourself a few questions, do you have kids? In this case, you might want a bath with a non-slip surface, for example. Is it your own ensuite? You may prefer a walk-in shower.

Second on the list: The Design

The list goes on forever, but the main question is: Old Fashioned or Modern? This will make the biggest difference when installing your bathroom. For some inspiration, you can visit our baths and showers pages to see what might suit your house.

Now for the third element: Cost

Although not the most joyful of things to remember, it is very important, as it will affect every other section on this post. It might be easy to plan out a price for a shower or toilet, but it is slightly harder if permits and old plumbing work are involved, for example.

Number Four: Choosing the Right Fitters

The list goes on forever, but the main question is: Old Fashioned or Modern? This will make the biggest difference when installing your bathroom. For some inspiration, you can visit our baths and showers pages to see what might suit your house.

Our next tip: Remember the Storage!

This part of the design is forgotten very often, but who wants toiletries sitting around everywhere? You most definitely want a place to store your toiletries, at least one unit near the sink(s) and another near the shower and/or bath. This will ensure cleanliness in the whole room, in addition, storage can be added at a very low cost, if chosen wisely.

To continue the trend of forgotten topics, we have: Lighting

We all know that feeling of being completely woken up by a bright light when going to the bathroom late at night. To the point where some would attempt it with their eyes closed! You are in luck though, because today we have motion sensors and light levels. We can arrange a no light switch design and a system that allows the lights to be dimmed.

Last, but most certainly not least: Tiles

The surface you choose will disturb you forever if you get it wrong. That being said, getting it right can be achieved easily by factoring in which design you have opted out for. Tiles that match your shower or complement your bath will make for a beautiful bathroom.

This is what you should remember when designing a new bathroom. If you follow all of these steps, you can’t go wrong! For any further help, please give us a call. If you have any questions, feel free to fill-in our enquiry form.

Have a great day!
